Katie is the owner of Distinction Health and Beauty. Katie is the salon's sole skincare specialist, and she consistently enhances her expertise through various courses and training. If you need advice on which products to use or what treatments to consider, be sure to book an appointment in advance. Along with Lorraine, she is one of the few therapists in Scotland qualified to perform advanced blemish removal, helping to achieve perfect skin for everyone. Katie has worked in the beauty industry for thirteen years and came straight to work for Distinction from college. Having built up experience and a wealth of knowledge, Katie decided to follow her dreams and buy the salon she loved working in. She had already built up an excellent reputation and an ever-increasing client base, so it seemed the right direction to move in. Katie is passionate about recreating the same spa environment she was used to but continuously adding new and more advanced treatments to the treatment list. The success of the salon has well exceeded Katie’s expectations, with many clients booking appointments months in advance and travelling from all over Scotland and England to be treated by her. In her first year in business, she won the Independent Business of the Year Award in the local community and is striving for more awards and recognition for her salon and dedicated and hardworking staff. Katie’s commitment extends beyond her business achievements. She actively participates in local charity events, offering free treatments to support various causes. Her leadership has also created a nurturing work environment, where her team feels valued and motivated to deliver the best service possible. Katie believes in continuous learning and regularly attends industry conferences and workshops to stay updated with the latest trends and techniques. Her vision is to make Distinction Health and Beauty a benchmark for excellence in the beauty industry.

April is a distinguished senior therapist at our salon. She enjoys working with nails and brow lamination, but her true passion lies in skincare. After struggling with acne for ten years, she embarked on her skin journey and decided that she wanted to help others. April excels in her knowledge of skin conditions and types, allowing her to effectively advise and educate her clients.

She has a particular love for facials, and anyone who books with her will quickly see just how skilled she is. You can rest assured that you are in good hands; April will have you feeling relaxed in no time. Additionally, she has completed further education in massage techniques and is fantastic at deep-tissue massage.

Her hardworking and bubbly nature makes her an essential part of our salon. April works on Sundays only, and she is very popular, so be sure to book your appointment in advance to secure your spot.

I began my journey in 2009, joining Distinction in the Marriott and working between there and Clarkston, gaining experience in massage therapy as the clinic first opened. In 2017, I moved on to explore different salons, expanding my skills with additional training in lashes and makeup.

Now based in Strathaven with my husband and our three children (plus a never-ending pile of laundry!), I love the variety this industry brings. I don’t have a single favourite treatment — for me, it’s all about the people. I enjoy hearing each client’s story just as much as I enjoy creating a calm, quiet appointment if that’s what they prefer. Attention to detail is something I truly pride myself on, making sure every client feels comfortable, cared for, and confident.

Francesca is part of our beautiful front of house team. She is responsible for the day to day running of the salon. She organises the team, books in all of your appointments and maintains the high standard of cleanliness in the salon. She also help with all the other behind the scene tasks that help keep Distinction one of the leading salons in the industry and ahead of the competition. She is gorgeous a fab senses of humour which add some extra glamour and laughter to the salon.
